Ten-man Malaga maintained its impressive home record with a 2-1 victory over Villarreal on Monday that kept its European ambitions on track.
The newly-rich Andalusian side has set its target on upsetting the old order in the Spanish top flight following investment from Qatari Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani and currently lies in fifth place after a hard- fought win.
Malaga has won every match at La Rosaleda so far this season except for the visit of Real Madrid and started well with French midfielder Jeremy Toulalan scoring a rare goal after four minutes.
Villarreal was on the back foot but equalised through Marco Ruben after a fine run from Borja Valero.
The visitor came more into the game as the first half continued but five minutes from the break Malaga got what proved to be the decisive goal through Isco Alarcon after an initial shot from Jose Rondon had been saved by Villarreal 'keeper Diego Lopez.
Villarreal, which hasn't won away since beating Athletic Bilbao eight months ago, rallied and the host was reduced to 10 men when Toulalan was shown a second yellow card.
Then, on 76 minutes, Valero saw a shot tipped onto the cross bar but there was no way back for the visitor.

India scampers home in thrilling finish

Rohit puts the host on victory path with an impressive innings
Rohit Sharma's brilliant 72 and useful contributions from the lower-order helped India battle back from the brink and script an exciting one-wicket win against the West Indies in the first One-Day International at the Barabati Stadium here on Tuesday.
Chasing West Indies' 211 for nine in 50 overs, India was tottering at 59 for five when Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja joined forces. The sixth-wicket pair raised 83, easily the best phase of the Indian innings.
Rohit played some breathtaking shots, an extra-cover drive and a pull off Russell being the pick. At the other end, Jadeja, known for his aggressive instincts, curbed his natural style and played second fiddle to Rohit. The partnership ended when Jadeja's square cut off Pollard went straight to Lendl Simmons.
Though next man R. Ashwin was run out cheaply, R. Vinay Kumar showed some spunk while adding 42 for the eighth wicket with Rohit. Just when it looked like the two would carry India to victory, Rohit was bowled by leg-spinner Anthony Martin with 11 needed.
Vinay, who made a valuable 18, also departed at the same score, leaving it to the last pair — Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav — to see India through. The two pace bowlers struggled initially, particularly with their calling and running, but managed to keep their nerve.
After Aaron hit a precious boundary off West Indies skipper Darren Sammy, Yadav finished things off with a straight-drive for four in the same over amidst thunderous applause from the packed house.
Roach on fire
At the beginning of the Indian innings, Kemar Roach produced a superb spell to put the host on the backfoot. He removed Parthiv Patel and Gautam Gambhir in the fifth over before castling Virat Kohli with a beautiful in-swinger in his next over.
At this stage, a section of the crowd turned unruly and the match was stopped for five minutes. On resumption, Virender Sehwag was bowled by another beauty, this time from Andre Russell. When Raina fell cheaply, spooning a simple catch to Darren Bravo off Russell, all seemed over for India before the Rohit-Jadeja association changed the course of the game.
Earlier, Bravo (60) and Danza Hyatt (31) helped the West Indies cross the 200-run mark after being asked to bat. The two put on 75 for the fourth wicket after the visitors were reduced 52 for three.
Adrian Barath fell cheaply, nicking Vinay to wicketkeeper Parthiv, while Simmons was bowled by Yadav. It was a memorable start to Aaron's spell as he castled Marlon Samuels with a ball that nipped in.
Bravo and Hyatt then dug their heels in as the runs came easily. The two were progressing well when the latter was needlessly run out.
Pollard walked in amidst huge expectations, but the explosive batsman was kept quiet by the Indian spinners.
To make matters worse, West Indies lost Bravo, who was bowled by Raina. Bravo's 60 was compiled off 74 balls and contained six boundaries. When Pollard, too, followed five runs later, West Indies plunged into deeper trouble.
Russell used the long handle to good effect, smashing 22 off 20 balls with two fours and one six. He took the team past 200 before becoming Aaron's second victim.
Yadav impresses
However, it was Yadav who was the best Indian bowler on view with his speed and accuracy.
He clocked the fastest ball of the innings — 147.6kmph. Aaron, too, was pacy but his waywardness allowed the West Indies batsmen to score runs freely.
At the end of the day, the two fast bowlers also turned match-winners for India with their last-wicket partnership.
Incidentally, this was India's 10th consecutive win at home, and its third against the West Indies at this venue.

Iranian Pastor has been abused while in prison

Iranian Pastor has been abused while in prison

The mistreatment of a pastor in Iran awaiting a decision on his death sentence for refusing to recant his faith amounts to physical and psychological torture, a source close to the pastor’s family said.

Yousef  Nadarkhani, sentenced to death a year ago after a court of appeals in Rasht, Iran, found him guilty of leaving Islam in September 2010, is in deteriorating health, according to a member of Nadarkhani’s denomination, the Church of Iran, who requested anonymity.
The church member said that communication with Nadarkhani is limited, but that sources close to the imprisoned Christian indicated that he has undergone physical and psychological torture.
“Certainly he was hit, but his [telephone] conversations are heard [by authorities],” the source said.
“We know that he has been in extreme situations, and we consider that torture. When you have spent time in a solitary cell unable to talk to others for a long time, or you are told you will be killed, this is also torture.”
Compass says authorities have also continued to pressure Nadarkhani to recant his faith while in prison. The court in Rasht was expected to pronounce a verdict on Nadarkhani’s appeal last month, but instead sent the Christian’s case to the nation’s Islamic authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, to make a ruling.
Some sources indicate a ruling could come the second half of December.
Jason DeMars of Present Truth Ministries told ANS: “This is accurate in regards to the past. We have never received direct word from Youcef about being tortured or beaten, though visitors have seen evidence of this at one point. And of course in the past he was in solitary confinement and as has been stated elsewhere long periods of this can cause mental trauma, although we have not seen any evidence in Youcef of being in a bad mental state.”
DeMars added: “He has been strong mentally and strong in faith. And of course he has been told multiple times over the course of his incarceration that he would be executed if he does not recant.”

How to Lower Your Blood Sugar Naturally

Lowering your blood sugar is important to avoid pre-diabetes, diabetes, insulin resistance and overweight issues. Lowering your blood sugar naturally keeps your health vital and strong. Here's how it works: You eat something and the stomach and intestines breaks the food down into glucose. The cells need glucose for energy, but for the cells to be able to use glucose they also need insulin which the pancreas emits in the response to glucose. The body, however, can become resistant to using the insulin if there are certain factors occurring, in particular excess fat. So the glucose stays in the blood, which makes the pancreas secrete more insulin. Eventually the pancreas gets tired, very tired and gives up. That's when pre-diabetes becomes diabetes. What a bummer.Keeping glucose sugar levels balanced also helps promote weight loss as having low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) will trigger binge eating, which causes the rebound effect of high blood sugar or glucose. The body will rapidly store this high blood sugar as fat. With a few tricks up your sleeve, you can easily control your glucose levels and avoid more serious health problems.

  • Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, have 5-6 small meals. Make sure to keep a gap of 2-3 hours between two consecutive meals. It will help speed up your metabolism and result in burning of more calories.
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day. The more you increase your water consumption, the better it is.
  • Avoid foods that are too high in oil or sugar. Both the items contribute to body fat.
  • Never ever skip meals or eat too less in order to lose weight. It will only make your metabolism slower, resulting in an even slower burning of calories.
  • One of the best ways to reduce body fat is by indulging in weight training. It leads to an increase in the lean muscle mass.
  • Make sure to engage in low intensity aerobic exercise, like stationary biking, for 30 minutes, atleast 3-4 times in a week.
  • Stick to a proper and balanced diet. Ensure that your diet has 65-70% carbohydrates, 15-20% proteins and 10-15% fats.
  • Always keep healthy snacks, like puffed rice, fruits, etc, handy. This will help you avoid unhealthy snacks if you feel hungry in-between meals.
  • Whenever you are free, try to indulge yourself in something. It is often seen that we end up eating more when we sit idle.
  • While having your meal, eat slowly and chew each bite properly. This will make you feel full soon and help you avoid over-eating.
  • Include lots of negative-calorie foods in your diet. They are those foods that consume more energy in getting digested than what they offer to the body.
  • Stop having aerated drinks. Not only are they bad from health point of view, but also add unnecessary calories. Instead, opt for fruit juice, milk and the like.
